Bologna guided tour
The old town, with its 40 km of arcades, is one of the best preserved in Europe, full of ancient palaces, churches, works of art, reflecting the cultural relevance that Bologna has had over the centuries. The urban center of town is still intact in its medieval streets that stretch outwards from the central crossing the walls of the year 1300 with its 12 gates, 9 of which are still perfectly preserved. Many churches hide unexpected jewels as precious paintings or antique organs. A visit to Bologna can certainly start from Piazza Maggiore, which since year 1200 has been and is the focal point of the city, and of its religious and political life. Among the majestic medieval buildings on the square there is the unfinished Basilica of San Petronio, dedicated to the patron saint of the city. Bologna is divided into districts, the names of which are taken from those of the gateways in the ancient city walls. But Bologna is not only beautiful. It 'also an extraordinarily friendly city, known for the openness and friendliness of its citizens, the urban quality and the joy of living. Most of Bologna’s charm derives from its beautiful gardens which are present throughout the urban areas.
